Firstly, I think you should get a realistic and solid time plan with a clear scope of work. And, of course, you have to stick to it. You also need to build a robust communication media to send/receive input/outputs. One or two daily war-room kinds of meetings will help to resolve the design and construction issues. Monitoring the critical path activities constantly is necessary to achieve the key milestones. Finally, you need to have clear interface deliverables defined and agreed upon with both parties to ensure there will be no misunderstanding among the contractors to avoid conflicts.

As a project manager you supposed to be very clear with the project and than you the key thing is that you should have power to make positive decesions instantly,Mostly making a decesion takes long and when you are able to decide then you are out of budget,If you you take decesions timely you can complete project in given time lines and allocated budget.Regards

A plan with milestones controls project along its span while we use milestone to measure performance and add kpi to improve next milestone and crash duration or budget to cover delays and over expense that may happened.Daily,weekly and monthly tracking report with reference to the baseline ,updates and look ahead plans works as the steering wheel for project manager to drive project achieving milestones successfully

A well designed project plan is necessary. It gives project managers a structure for working on their projects and gives them the power to efficiently track, oversee, and update stakeholders on project status whenever needed.

From my experience To manage project budget and timeline is possible only through speed . Do fast and always try to complete the project milestone before deadline by doing parallel activity , multitasking , try to put more efforts and work on all input variables . If you work properly on inputs and output will always come faster and fruitful. Don’t do everything on perfection but should not comprise on quality.

Where possible examine programme and tasks to see if potential improvements can be made. As a site manager you should be given-inherit a good programme having had input on this. Yes you also have management tools and these should work-assist in theory, but your biggest asset will be your team, some of whom you will not have met before. Communication in sharing goals and understanding risks ate important. Input with your new team although latent will be a bonus also. It has worked for me in my career. Now retired.

Its essential to monitor SPI and CPI on projects at regular intervals to understand project health and forecast schedule and budget impacts to the project.

Project Review should start from day one not on the end. To ensure the objective, goals set are met towards the end of Quality Project. Review starts from the goal and objective setting within the Project team, Stakeholders, and End User. It define from the very beginning of the Project readiness review, audits during the project execution, upto the project closure and handover. Project lesson learns are being collected and registered for future projects development to ensure risks that surface during the execution be addressed and corrected as part of the Project Process.

Project scope should be defined clearly.Create detailed plans in tools like Gantt chart to proper visualization of the project. Estimate cost accurately and buffer some budgets for contingencies. Prioritize tasks based on their impact on the project timeline and budget. Identify and address any deviations promptly.Encourage team members to report any challenges or delays promptly to address issues in a timely manner.proactive approach can prevent unexpected setbacks and associated costs.Communicate changes transparently.

Consistent reporting and constant collaboration.Provide schedule health KPIs at two levels: 1) Earned Value / Productivity2) Milestone variance, causation, and mitigation.Project health should be monitored using an Earned Value Analysis: SPI (v) and SPI (t), TSPI (t) and Estimated forecast duration (ED). If delayed, mitigation should begin at once by communicating the problem, and providing a mitigation strategy.Next, when a contract milestone has a negative variance, a forensic delay analysis should be employed to understand the impact, communicate the cause, and engage the contractor to provide a reconciliation solution.

Hi ,I think more comments are tailored on project execution phase, In my opinion, this should start from Engineering, procurement and finally construction phases of the projects. You can save a lot on efficient design , strong supply chain and adding good resources in construction phase. Right people for the right job is the key to success on projects.Project schedule should also be treated as bible to manage costs effectively as time is money Cheers !!
