In this section of theStarfield Walkthrough, you'll find a complete guide to High Price to Pay, which is the eleventh mission in the main story. This is where you'll face your first big decision, as the Artifacts become hunted by multiple people.

High Price to Pay Walkthrough

Once you've brought back the Artifact from the Scow as part of No Sudden Moves, you'll already be back at The Lodge. High Price to Pay will begin immediately, with you prompted to talk to Noel.

Talk to Noel

As you approach Noel, she’ll tell you that The Eye has gone dark she's unable to get hold of anyone on there. A transmission will come through from Vladimir telling you that they’ve been attacked. The Hunter is the one responsible for the attack and declares that they're on their way to The Lodge.

You'll be presented with a big choice to make which is:

  • Choice 1: Defend the Lodge - Stay and defend The Lodge with the members of Constellation who are there. The consequence of this is: Tap to Reveal
  • Choice 2: Go to the Eye - Go to The Eye to help the members of Constellation onboard it. The consequence of this is:Tap to Reveal

Creating a Save

If you want to see both outcomes and to make sure you've made the right decision in this mission, now would be a good time to make a save file that you can go back to at any point.

Choice 1: Defend the Lodge

If you choose to stay and defend The Lodge, you’ll be barricaded in with a few members of Constellation. You'll be tasked with escorting Noel and The Artifacts through the basem*nt of The Lodge, which provides a shortcut into The Well. The Hunter will continue to chase you as you make your way through The Well and New Atlantis, where you'll eventually return to your ship to go check on those that are on The Eye. Constellation will help you attack The Hunter, so you can hold them off and give Noel enough time to go ahead.

Check On Walter

This will become an objective if you choose to stay at The Lodge. While Noel prepares to move the Artifacts to safety, Walter will shout from the bar in The Lodge. The Hunter will have shown up and grabbed him, so you’ll need to dash upstairs and protect Walter.

Attacking the Hunter

You can hit The Hunter enough that he’ll run away during the sequence and send a transmission when you board your ship to say no one has challenged him that much previously. In some scenarios, you'll see duplicates of The Hunter that will attack you all the way from The Lodge to your ship. When you get too far away from The Hunter, they will teleport to wherever you are to keep up with the chase.

Outcome: Defend the Lodge

If you stay at The Lodge, you'll have to go to The Eye once you've helped everyone successfully escape from New Atlantis and boarded your ship. When you reach The Eye, Tap to Reveal

Choice 2: Go to the Eye

If you decide to go to The Eye, as you try to leave, you’ll be approached by one of your companions, letting you know that you won’t be able to get back in as they’ll barricade the door.

When you reach The Eye, you’ll find members of Constellation along with Vladimir all injured. One of your companions will be seriously injured, but going to The Eye will save them. Tap to Reveal

Outcome: Go to The Eye

Once you've checked on everyone at The Eye and saved one of your companions, you'll have to return to The Lodge. You’ll come back to find most of Constellation on the floor and injured Tap to Reveal Noel will have run off – you can find her hiding in The Well, and will still need to escort her out of the city and back up to The Eye.

Speak to Noel

Whether you go to The Eye first or not, you’ll have to speak to Noel once you’ve checked on the situation.

Talk to Vladimir

Vladimir will point out that The Lodge and The Eye are both compromised now, so the Artifacts need to be moved elsewhere.

Build the Armillary On Your Ship

Choosing to build the Armillary on your ship will lead to an increase in fighting and ships coming after you as you travel around.

Or Build the Armillary At An Outpost

If you build The Armillary on an Outpost, you’ll first need to create one by entering build mode. This will create a new Quest category, which contains The Armillary. Whatever option you choose, you can add to The Armillary as you collect additional Artifacts.

Return to the Lodge

Once you've decided where to build The Armillary and placed it, you'll need to return to The Lodge.

Talk to Matteo

When you return to The Lodge, you can talk to Matteo who is focused on the word “Unity” that was used by The Hunter. Matteo has heard the phrase before, so suggests going over to the Sanctum Universum to find out more.
